Yes. I still report pioneer hours, even though I don't attend meetings anymore. I wonder if they're suspicious.

Have you ever faked a service report?
by Orgull init's only my third day here so, go easy on me.
lol.. seriously, my new doubts have made it harder and harder to go in service.
a few months ago, when a new month rolled around, i realized that i hadn't actually gone in service at all the previous month.

What Did You Hide From Others While You Were A Witness?
by minimus ini see that some here were actually "in the closet" while they were witnesses.
some kids practiced "fornication" regularly but the only ones who knew anything about it were other youths that would never tell about the secrets.. some marriages were simply horrible.
but no one would've ever had a clue.. was there anything that you ever concealed from the elders or other witnesses that would've gotten you in trouble?.

Started fading a couple years ago after two other failed attempts to fade. Moved to a territory where nobody knows me. I haven't been to a meeting since. I got visited by the elders a couple of times in the previous territory, but they left me alone after they were unable in three visits to convince me it was the truth.

BirthdaysSimple Deconstruction of the JW Rationale
by AuldSoul into deconstruct the jw rationale surrounding birthdays, a few simple guidelines should be followed.. (1): don't waste any energy trying to convince a jw that birthdays are not pagan, if they suggest that, readily agree.
whether or not the celebrations are pagan turns out to be a non-issue that distracts from the main point.. (2): stay focused on the fact that jws disfellowship people for celebrating birthdays.. (3): stress the point that there should always be clear scriptural reason for disfellowshipping someone.
ask them often throughout the discussion whether this is the case, get them to reinforce this need to themselves.. (4): remember, the first goal is deconstructing their rationale, not giving them a new rationale, not convincing them that celebrating birthdays is a good thing.. once you have these well in mind, the deconstruction can begin.. jw rationale, in brief:.

I agree with Changeling. It's all about taking away individuality. They believe that all honor should go to Jehovah, because he's the one that makes life possible.

Do you look forwards, backwards or sideways?
by mtsgrad inmorning faders, da's df's and current witnesses,.
the whole of my life in the troof was spent looking forward to the end of this wicked system.
over 30 years of waiting for jehovah to sort out the ills of mankind.

I prefer the here and now. Looking backwards and forwards are both too frightening.

Should Jehovahs Witnesses Be Held Responsible For Shunning?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial; font-size: 16px; } .style2 { font-size: 12px; font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; } .style4 {font-family: arial; font-size: 16px; color: #ff9900; } .style5 {color: #ff0000} --> another perspective:should jehovahs witnesses be held responsible for shunning?looking back to the time of which when i was one of jehovahs witnesses .
i recall my viewpoint about apostatesi despised them thoroughly.
thewatchtower called for shunning all of those who rejected gods .

Brainwashed or not, each person is responsible for the way they treat others. Humanity and common decency are things we are all born with. If you allow those things to be taken from you, for whatever reason, then you are responsible.

A Bible Question, please comment
by restrangled inthere will have to be assumptions involved here.....that god exists, the bible is the word of god and creation is as stated in genesis, etc.
etc.. in the old testament, god seemed pretty straight forward, let certain people know (and not by osmosis) his intent.
backed certain kings, and showed power through physical occurrences over and over again.. along comes his son, who died for the entire race as a ransom for adam's sin.

The answer is simple: God did not write the bible, men did. A bunch of presumptuos men took it upon themselves to write down "god's word" as a way to manipulate people into acting the way they think people should act. They then attribute this manipulation to God's will.

This thread reminds me of how we where forbidden to watch Howard the Duck because of the naughty duck titties that were shown.
We should be forbidden to watch that movie because it's so horrible.
